Hannah Gadsby Information
Hannah Gadsby (January 12, 1978) is an Australian entertainer, writer, and singer born in Burnie, Tasmania, Australia. After taking first place in 2006's Raw Comedy national final, they launched their careers in Australia. Their 2018 Netflix series Nanette took home two awards: a Peabody and a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Variety Special.
With the 2019 tour of Douglas under their belts, Gadsby hit the road in 2020 to present the recorded special on Netflix. They were presented with an honorary doctorate by the University of Tasmania in 2021. Ten Steps to Nanette: A Memoir Situation was released in March 2022. In the fourth season of Sex Education on Netflix, they had a recurring role as radio DJ Celia.
Body of Work, Gadsby's solo performance, began performing in July 2021 at various locations around the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. A recording of the Body of Work tour was scheduled to be released on Netflix in 2023, as revealed in 2022. Netflix revealed in April 2023 that the tour's television special will be called Something Special. Netflix debuted the series on May 10.
The exhibition It's Pablo-matic: Picasso, according to Hannah Gadsby, was placed at the Brooklyn Museum from June to September 2023, marking the half-century anniversary of Pablo Picasso's death. Exploring Picasso's "complicated legacy" was the intended goal of the show that Gadsby arranged.
