Guy Branum Information
Guy Branum (November 12, 1975) is an American actor, writer, and comedian. He is most recognized as the chief writer and sketch performer on the G4 network's X-Play and as a regular panelist on the E! network's Chelsea Lately. He used to anchor the Maximum Fun network's podcast Pop Rocket and TruTV's Talk Show the Game Show.
Branum was born to a Protestant father and a Jewish mother in Yuba City, California. From 1994 to 1998, he was a history and political science major at the University of California, Berkeley. In 1997, before the Big Game between Berkeley and Stanford University, he wrote a column for the Daily Californian, drawing the US Secret Service to his apartment. The Associated Press misquoted parts of his article, implying that he suggested Berkeley students murder Stanford freshman Chelsea Clinton.
After being recommended by co-hostess Laura Swisher, Branum was hired as a writer for Unscrewed with Martin Sargent while the show was still on TechTV in San Francisco. On Unscrewed, he played a sweater model and The Ambassador of Gay regularly. Branum also worked as a writer and producer for G4tv.com and the lead writer for the G4 channel's X-Play program. He also contributed to the Weezy and the Swish comedy podcast.
Branum joined Chelsea Lately as a writer and on-screen comedian in December 2007. In January 2011, he debuted his feature film in No Strings Attached. Branum joined W. Kamau Bell's Totally Biased in 2012 as a writer and performed a recurrent part called "No more Mr. Nice Gay."
