Glen Davis (January 1, 1986) is an American former professional basketball player. He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In Baton Rouge, Davis attended the Laboratory School at Louisiana State University. According to Rivals.com, Davis was the country's third-best power forward and the thirteenth-best player in 2004. The website rated him as a six-star recruit. Davis was selected as the 2006 SEC Player of the Year and All-SEC First Team by the league's head coaches.
Davis led the Tigers to their first Final Four since 1986 in 2006, when he was just a sophomore. LSU fell short to UCLA in the national semifinals, falling behind by a large margin early and never recovering. Davis finished with 17 points and 4/10 free throw shooting before fouling out. Davis held a press conference on March 20, 2007, announcing that he would enter his name into the 2007 NBA draft instead of returning for his final year at LSU.
On March 20, 2007, it was announced that agent John Hamilton of Performance Sports Management would represent him. The Seattle SuperSonics selected Davis with the 35th overall pick in the 2007 NBA draft. The Boston Celtics acquired the rights to Davis and Ray Allen in exchange for Delonte West, Wally Szczerbiak, and the fifth overall pick in the 2007 NBA draft, Jeff Green.
