George Edward Lopez (April 23, 1961) is an American actor and stand-up comedian born in Los Angeles, California. In 2000, after Lopez had been doing stand-up for a while, she was asked to produce and star in a comedy film starring Sandra Bullock. Seeing a need, Bullock advocated for a sitcom featuring Hispanics without specifically being about the Hispanic American population to air on American television.
2016, Lopez appeared on America's Got Talent as a special guest judge. He got one shot at using the golden buzzer, which automatically advanced an act to the next round. He tried it out on the Malevo dancing crew. NBC ordered Lopez's new show, "Lopez vs. Lopez," starring him and his daughter Mayan, in May 2022. In the 2019 indie film El Chicano, he portrayed Captain Gomez.
Lopez portrayed Rudy Reyes, Jaime Reyes's (Blue Beetle) uncle, in the 2023 DC Universe film Blue Beetle. Lopez was a featured celebrity golfer at the 2004 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and the 2004 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. Lopez and his professional partner came in third at the Pebble Beach competition. At the end of the event, George had the highest score of any famous person.
