Eddie Griffin Information
Edward Rubin Griffin (July 15, 1968) is a stand-up actor and comedian born in Kansas City, Missouri. He is well-known for his roles as Eddie Sherman on Malcolm & Eddie, the titular character in Undercover Brother (2002), and Tiberius Jefferson "T.J." Hicks in both Deuce Bigalow films (the first in 1999 and the second in 2005).
He also did the voice of Richard Pryor on Black Dynamite (2012–2015) and played Orpheus in Scary Movie 3 (2003). In the film Norbit (2007), he played Pope Sweet Jesus. On Comedy Central's list of the 100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time, Griffin came in at number 62.
Griffin took the stage at an open mic night at a comedy club on a whim in 1989 and received a standing ovation for his anecdotes about his family. He used his charm to land stand-up comedy jobs at local bars and in Los Angeles. Griffin's homosexual impersonation of tough-guy comedian Andrew Dice Clay was a hit and earned him a spot as Clay's opening act.
After reaching a certain level of fame in stand-up, Griffin gained notoriety for performing guest sets on open mic nights at The Comedy Store, where he would often stay on stage for so long that the audience fell asleep during the act that followed.
Griffin's stand-up comedy special You Can Tell 'Em I Said It premiered on Comedy Central in 2011 and has since been released on DVD. His Showtime stand-up special, titled E-Niggma, premiered in December of 2019.
