Doug Stanhope Information
Douglas Stanhope (March 25, 1967) is an American stand-up comedian, author, actor, podcast host, and political activist. He is from Worcester, Massachusetts. At age 12, his school psychiatrist wrote a letter to his mother in which it was told that Stanhope has a to sketch gory images and adult-themed cartoons. He quit his school when he was only 15 and started taking an interest in comedy. Stanhope took his comedy influences from Monty Python and National Lampoon. Before working full time as a comedian, Stanhope worked in telemarketing, borderline legal stuff, which was a scam for people.
Stanhope started his stand-up comedy career in 1990 when he was 23. He used to perform at an open mic night at a Las Vegas bar and developed his act in Las Vegas before moving to Phoenix, Arizona. At Phoenix, he landed a gig as a house MC at a comedy club. Stanhope won the San Francisco International Comedy Competition against Dane Cook in 1995. It was a three-week contest. Fox aired back-to-back episodes of Stanhope's hidden camera television show named Invasion of the Hidden Cameras, in July 2001. He also accused Spy TV of stealing half of his ideas and achieving good ratings in return.
Stanhope co-hosted the fifth and sixth seasons of The Man Show in 2003-4. He was also sighted in the film The Aristocrats. Stanhope established a group of touring comics called The Unbookables. Some of his notable discographies and videographies include The Great White Stanhope 1998, Something to Take the Edge Off 2000, Deadbeat Hero 2004, From Across the Street 2009, Before Turning the Gun on Himself 2012, and many more.
Stanhope also wrote three books named Fun With Pedophiles: The Best of Baiting 2006, Digging Up Mother: A Love Story 2016, and This Is Not Fame: A "From What I Re-Memoir" 2017.
