Dodge Poetry Information
The Dodge Poetry Festival is defined as the largest poetry event to take place in North America. The festival is a four-day celebration of poetry, which is given the name of “poetry heaven” by US Poet Laureate Robert Hass, “Wordstock” by The New York Times, and “a new Woodstock” by the Christian Science Monitor. The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation has sponsored the event since 1986. Around more than five dozen internationally acclaimed poets are immersed in readings, discussions, and conversations focusing on poetry.
The Dodge Poetry Festival is held all day and evening in performance venues that are capable of accommodating anywhere from 100 to over 2,000 people. Every day, more than ten stages offer different activities at the same time. The 13th biennial festival was arranged at NJPAC, Newark Symphony Hall, and other venues around the city in Newark, New Jersey. The 14th festival took place on October 11–14, 2012, in the same town.
