DJ Demers Information
Canadian comic D.J. Demers has appeared on shows like America's Got Talent (season 11) and Conan. Demers, born in Kitchener, Ontario, and diagnosed with hearing loss at a young age, bases much of his humor on his life as a hearing aid user. By his sophomore year in college, Demers had already made his debut at Yuk Yuk's, a popular comedy club in the Los Angeles area. He took home the crown at the 2013 Toronto Comedy Brawl, 2014's Homegrown Comics Competition at the Just for Laughs Festival, and 2015's Canadian Comedy Award for Best Breakout Artist.
In 2016, he tried out for America's Got Talent and made it to the Judge Cuts round before being eliminated. In 2017, he made an appearance on Conan and went on a comedy tour of college campuses around the United States with support from Phonak, a company that makes hearing aids. In addition, he has made guest appearances on the CBC Radio sitcom The Debaters.
At the 2018 Juno Awards, he was nominated for Comedy Album of the Year for his work. His stand-up comedy special, Interpreted, premiered as a Crave original in 2019. He was the headliner of a Montreal performance called Comedy for a Cause, which included only comedians with physical impairments. His second comedy album, Uninterpreted, was released the same year and featured material from his Crave special.
