Dax Shepard Information
Dax Randall Shepard is an American podcast host, director, writer, and comedian. He was born in Highland Township and Oakland. Shepard relocated to Los Angeles in 1996 after spending a year in Santa Barbara, California. Kareem Elseify, a buddy from Santa Barbara, told him about the Groundlings improv group. He decided to audition (his first time acting), took classes, and attended UCLA simultaneously. After taking workshops for roughly five years, he was accepted into The Groundlings' Sunday Company, joining actors like Melissa McCarthy, Fortune Feimster, Tate Taylor, and Nat Faxon.
Shepard rose to fame after starring alongside Ashton Kutcher in the comedy Candid Camera-style show Punk'd starting in 2003. He continues to appear in the show's 2012 revival. Shepard claimed that after giving a Punk'd audition, he met Kutcher while filming the pilot, and Kutcher helped him find representation. Before getting the part in Punk'd, his first, he had tried out unsuccessfully for ten years.
Shepard starred in the comedy Without a Paddle in 2004 alongside Seth Green and Matthew Lillard. Despite receiving unfavorable reviews, the movie was a commercial success, earning more than US$65 million worldwide as of 2009. He played The Astronaut in the sci-fi fantasy movie Zathura: A Space Adventure in 2005.
