Darrell Waltrip Information
Darrell Lee Waltrip (February 5, 1947) is an American motorsports analyst, former national television broadcaster, author, and former racing driver from Owensboro, Kentucky. He began driving in Go-karts at 12 and entered his first stock car race at 16. He was also an early racer at the Kentucky Motor Speedway along with Ellis Raceway. Waltrip drove the No. 48 P. B. Crowell was owned by Ford and sponsored by American Home in Nashville.
Waltrip began his NASCAR Winston Cup, NASCAR's top racing series at 25 at the 1972 Winston 500, which took place at Talladega, Alabama. He was able to finish 38th in his first NASCAR Winston Cup race. At the beginning of his NASCAR career, Waltrip primarily drove his cars except for the five races in 1973.
Waltrip is regarded as a true ambassador to the motor racing sport by most of the racing community. He is also a passionate promoter of all forms of racing. He is also a Fox Sports analyst and broadcaster; hence, his views and comments carry considerable weight with drivers, fans, team owners, and even NASCAR heads.
As far as his film and television appearances are included, Waltrip substituted for Emery on The Nashville Network's Nashville Now. He also hosted the network's two successor variety shows, "Prime Time Country" and "Music City Tonight." Waltrip was a presenter at the GMA (Gospel Music Association) Music Awards twice, and he hosted a DirecTV special, Songs of Faith, and Nicole C. Mullen. DW: A Lifetime Going Around in Circles is an autobiography by Waltrip and a New York Times best-seller.
