Complexions Contemporary Balle is known as a contemporary ballet company founded by Desmond Richardson and Co-Artistic Directors Dwight Rhoden in 1994. The company is based in New York City and comprises 14 classical and contemporary dancers. Complexions Contemporary Ballet performs worldwide and provides dance education and America's first fully multicultural ballet company.
Complexions Contemporary Ballet has appeared throughout the US, such as the Lincoln Center, the Brooklyn Academy of Music's, the Joyce Theater, the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, the Mahalia Jackson Performance Arts Center, the Music Center LA, and the Winspear Opera House in Dallas. The company has also appeared in many major European dance festivals such as the Maison De La Dance Festival in Lyon, the Dance Festival in Holland, the Isle De Dance Festival in Paris, Italy's Festival of Dance for four consecutive years, Steps International Dance Festival in Switzerland, Warsaw Ballet Festival, Kraków Spring Ballet Festival, Lódz Biennale, and the Dance Festival of Canary Islands/Spain.
Dwight Rhoden has successfully created over 90 ballets for Complexions. He has also made ballets for many other companies such as the Arizona Ballet, the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet Company, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, and Dayton Contemporary Dance Company.
Complexions Contemporary Ballet has earned numerous awards, including the New York Times Award for the category of "Critics Choice" Award.
