Comedy Coven Information
Comedy Coven started in 2015 at an open mic night where the three future Coven members met. The three of them liked each other’s comedy and immediately planned a dinner together. They recorded their very first show in February 2015, which turned out to be a success. The group used to sell out a Tuesday evening at The Robin Theatre every month. A few years back, the trio shifted to the second Friday of every month.
Comedy Coven also features a revolving set of guest stars, including Kathie Dunbar, a Lansing city council member. This is done to keep the show’s content fresh, relatable, and funny to the people of Lansing. The three permanent members are Stephanie Onderchanin, Emily Syrja, and Tricia Chamberlain. This trio recorded the very first show in Syrja’s living room. They love to use the occult theme in their shows. According to these women, witchcraft is symbolic of struggles by women.
Comedy Coven never shies away from the political distress happening now. One of the shows by the trio donated admission to the Refugee Development Center. The group raised $1,000+ for the center with the help of the Lansing community. Initially, the three of these witches had dreams of becoming a comic. Now, together they aim to create a culture of kindness and acceptance.
