Colorado Ballet Information
Colorado Ballet is a large organization that includes a professional performing ballet company of 31 dancers, an advanced dancer studio company, an academy, and an education and outreach division. Colorado Ballet's home base in Denver's central business district attracts over 125,000 annual customers.
The Ellie Caulkins Opera House in the Denver Performing Arts Complex is the primary venue for the professional Company. However, the Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Denver hosts one performance annually. The Colorado Ballet presents both traditional ballet and cutting-edge contemporary dance. Three or four times a year, the Colorado Ballet Orchestra performs alongside the Company at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House.
In 2009, the Colorado Masterpieces Award went to Colorado Ballet. Colorado Ballet was given a grant from the Colorado Council on the Arts to travel the state during the 2009-2010 season as part of the American Masterpieces: Three Centuries of Artistic Genius initiative. Vail International Dance Festival appearances for Colorado Ballet span 2011–2017.
