Colin Mochrie Information
Colin Mochrie (November 30, 1957) is a Scottish-born Canadian producer, writer, improvisational comedian, and actor born in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. Among the many accolades bestowed upon Mochrie's creations are two Canadian Comedy Awards, a Gemini, and a Writers Guild of Canada award. The 2013 Canadian Comedy Awards bestowed him the title of Canadian Comedy Person of the Year. Mochrie, who identified as a loner and aspired to a career in marine biology, went to Killarney Secondary School.
In 2017, Mochrie appeared in a Canadian detective TV series, Murdoch Mysteries, as a cameo, bringing his signature dry humor to the role of Ralph Fellows, a hotel detective. His hosting of Mass Hysterical: A Comedic Cantata, a webcast that brought together alums of Second City and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in 2020, offered a comedic look at the church's use of classical and liturgical music. He was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award as Best Lead Performance in a Web Program or Series at the 10th Canadian Screen Awards in 2022 for this project.
On May 13, 2022, he appeared on the Amazon Prime Video revival of the sketch comedy series The Kids in the Hall. In addition to frequently appearing as the improvising comedian, Mochrie co-created the comedy event Hyprov with hypnotist Asad Mecci. The show fuses stage hypnosis with improvisation.
