Twas The Night Before is a contemporary circus that is a seasonal show of Cirque Du Soleil. It re-imagines the 1823 classic Christmas poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas" by Clement Clarke Moore. The poem was called the "Twas The Night Before Christmas." The show will be Cirque Du Soleil's second winter-themed show, with the first being Wintuk. This will be the 49th production of Cirque Du Soleil since 1984.
James Hadley, Senior Artistic Director for Cirque du Soleil and a 25-year veteran of live theater and circus productions, is the show's creator and director, whereas produced by Jayna Neagle, Marie-Jose Adam is playing her role as an executive producer.
Twas, The Night Before presents a young girl named "Isabella." She has become jaded by the Christmas, spiritually. Isabella is brought to the world where she finds characters from Moore's Christmas poem, which gets her back into the holiday spirit.
Jean-Phi Goncalves gives sound composition and music direction, whereas James Lavoie designs the characters' costumes. Some of the top acts during the show include Aerial Straps Duo, Inline Skating, Block Balancing, Aerial Cart, etc.
The recent performances include altered Christmas songs like Gentlemen, O Holy Night, God Rest You Merry, and Angels We Have Heard on High. Along with the previously released songs that had been reworked, Goncalves also created brand-new songs like The Spark and Jolly for 'Twas The Night Before.
