Cirque du Soleil Kurios Information
Cabinet of Curiosities, or Kurios, is a Cirque du Soleil touring performance that debuted on April 24, 2014, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The film, written and directed by Michel Laprise, follows a global inventor of the late 19th century as he attempts to build a device that can manipulate space, time, and dimensions. While he is busy remaking his world in a steampunk style, he is joined by visitors from another dimension.
Raphal Beau, Guy Dubuc, and Marc Lessard (also known as Bob and Bill) wrote the score. On December 9, 2014, we got our hands on the soundtrack. In addition to an on-stage performance by the Kurios band, their new CD, "Kurios about Music," was released on December 10, 2014.
As reviewed by Richard Ouzounian of the Toronto Star, "Kurios is Cirque du Soleil's strongest act in years." Similarly, Kurios was deemed a win by the Gazette "an all-time great. It functions perfectly and could keep on going indefinitely." It was called a "kinetic, quirky, and stunning new production" by The Globe and Mail. The San Francisco Chronicle hailed Kurios as "the best Cirque du Soleil show in a long time" upon the performance's premiere there.
