Carolina Ballet Information
Carolina Ballet is a prominent American arts group presenting modern choreographers' new works and classical ballets. The company's founding artistic director, Robert Weiss, oversaw the Ballet's 1998 professional debut.
The objective of the student company was to offer chances for students to perform at the institution where they were enrolled. As the school and the company transformed over several years, they became known as Carolina Ballet Theatre. It was a pre-professional regional company led by Ms. Vorus and Mary LeGere, her successor as creative director. Local dance critics began to give the company's performances positive reviews.
2018, the company established the School of Carolina Ballet and presented over 100 world-premiere ballets. Zalman Raffael assumed the Artistic Director/CEO role in 2019, with Michele Weathers serving as the executive director. The national and international press has praised Carolina Ballet for over 20 years.
This town and the Carolina Ballet have accomplished something amazing since the Ballet's first season in 1998. The company has flourished from a $1.2 million budget with 16 dancers and five apprentices in 3 programs to a $6.0 million budget with eight programs, including the annual Nutcracker ballet.
