Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story is a two-act musical based on the book by Alan Janes. The lyrics and music are by Buddy Holly and others. The musical opened on October 12, 1989, at London's Victoria Palace Theatre. An early example of the jukebox musical, entitled Buddy, ran in the West End of London, playing 5,140 performances for over 12 years. In 2004, Janes took over the show himself, and since then, Holly has been on tour extensively in the UK. It has played five US National Tours, Broadway, and numerous other productions all around the world. Some of the notable productions are the 1991–2016 US National Tours and 2007–2008 West End Revival.
