Bruce Katz Information
Bruce Katz (August 9, 1952) is an American musician who plays the bass guitar, organ, and piano. He has also been on the Berklee College of Music in Boston as an associate professor from 1996 to 2010. In 1991, Katz founded his musical group called the Bruce Katz Band. He first started to play the piano when he was five years old. He started his professional career by playing bass guitar and piano with several different bands across Baltimore. After playing for some years, Katz decided to concentrate specifically on piano and Hammond organ.
Katz enrolled at the New England Conservatory in Boston from 1990-1992 and received a Master’s Degree in Jazz Performance. He was invited in 1992 to join Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters. Katz has toured with many notable artists of the music world such as John Hammond, David “Fathead” Newman, Debbie Davies, Joe Louis Walker, Duke Robillard, and Delbert McClinton.
Katz was a member of Gregg Allman and Friends from 2007 to 2013. In 2019, He released his debut solo piano album entitled Solo Ride on American Showplace Music. The album was nominated for a Blues Music Award in the Acoustic Album of the Year category by Blues Foundation in 2020. His solo albums include Solo Ride (2019), Journeys to the Heart of the Blues (2018), Grateful Heart: Blues & Ballads (1996), Project A (2009), Transformation (1994), Flipping Time (2003), Beyond the Blue Door (2019), and Jimmy Rog With Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters (1993).
