Dancer, choreographer, and director Botis Seva specializes in modern dance, physical theater, and hip-hop. Even though Botis Seva is firmly rooted in hip-hop dance theatre, the company constantly pushes the boundaries of form, structure, and theatricality to create new choreography. Botis uses his life experiences as narrative fuel, using techniques from film, text, art, and other dance languages.
Botis, born and raised in London, was first exposed to dance at 15 by Tony Adigun, an experimentalist in hip-hop dance theatre with Avant Garde Dance. Botis, at the age of 19, formed Far From The Norm after a brief performance career with Avant Garde Dance and the subsequent abandonment of Barking Broadway College due to his artistic desires.
Botis' career took off after she won the Bonnie Bird Choreography Fund and performed to sold-out crowds for two nights at Sadler's Wells in 2015. Additionally, his musical composition 60 Sec. won first place at both the Copenhagen International Choreography Competition and the Choreography 30 competition in Hanover.
