Robert Francis "Bobcat" Goldthwait is a screenwriter, director, comedian, and actor. His scathing dark humor stand-up has made him a household name. He was born in the city of Syracuse in the state of New York. Goldthwait grew up in a Catholic working-class home. Goldthwait decided to become a comedian at a young age after liking making his pals laugh. Goldthwait used to host regular shows for his pals at St. Matthew's Grammar School, including voice actor Tom Kenny. Goldthwait would try out new ideas and have a strong fondness for props.
Goldthwait opened for Nirvana on what would be their final North American tour in the fall of 1993, performing stand-up comedy. In 1995, Goldthwait starred in a half-hour HBO special, and in 2003, he released another comedy CD, I Don't Mean to Insult You, But You Look Like Bobcat Goldthwait. His stand-up was featured in Comedy Central's animated series Shorties Watchin' Shorties.
Goldthwait and Robin Williams used the names "Jack Cheese" and "Marty Fromage" on the same bill, but not as a comedy team. When Goldthwait appeared in Goldthwait's Shakes the Clown as Mime Jerry, he was billed as Marty Fromage; when Williams appeared in Goldthwait's Shakes the Clown as Mime Jerry, he was credited as Marty Fromage. Goldthwait has acted in several films. Zed in the Police Academy franchise was his first major role. One Crazy Summer, Burglar, Scrooged, and Hot to Trot were among his many film roles.
