Bobby Collins Information
Bobby Collins (September 21, 1951) is an American film actor and stand-up comedian. Being a New York City native, Collins was raised in Glen Oaks, Queens. While he was working in the Garment District at Calvin Klein in New York City, Collins was also pursuing his comedy career at night.
He was named after a comedian Bob Hope who was a favorite of Collins’ father. At the beginning of his career, he started working at Catch a Rising Star Comedy Club that was on the Upper East Side of New York City. Later he went on to perform in New Jersey as well as all over the city.
After gaining little success, he started to perform opening acts for star performers, including Tony Bennett, Julio Iglesias, Dolly Parton, Cher, and Frank Sinatra.
Bob Collins has also appeared in many movies and television shows. He appeared in I Am Comic, the 2010 documentary film. He also appeared in over 200 stand-up performances per year till 2011. He performed as a predecessor of Rosie O’Donnell’s in a television show “Standup Spotlight” on VH-1.
In April 2008, Collins released a DVD named Bobby Collins: Live From New York City. He has released six comedy albums so far, including Women and Children First, Mr. New York and Out of Bounds, I’m on the Boat, On the Inside, You’re Not Coming With Us, and I Wanna Go Home.
