Barbara Padilla Information
Barbara Padilla (December 9, 1980) is a Mexican-American operatic soprano. She is known as the runner-up on the fourth season of America's Got Talent. She is also well-known as a survivor of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Barbara Padilla was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, where she studied acting, dance, and music. After finishing herself as the runner up in America's Got Talent, Barbara performed in the Live concert for the show. She released her debut album entitled "Barbara Padilla" in late 2014.
Padilla was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma while she was studying in college. She underwent several rounds of chemotherapy as well as radiation. During those treatments, she was told that she would not be able to sing again because the treatment would harm her vocal cords. She traveled to Houston and auditioned for the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston. Luckily, she received a full scholarship that made her complete the master's degree program.
In 2001, Padilla was the first-place winner in the NATS competition while she was studying at the University of Houston. She was also a participant in the summer program IIVArts, which was held in Chiari, Italy. Barbara was also invited to sing the Mexican and American National Anthems for the sold-out historical game of soccer at Reliant Stadium.
