Ballet Quad Cities Information
Ballet Quad Cities is a Rock Island, Illinois-based ballet group. Joedy Cook launched the company in 1996. In the wider Quad Cities region of Illinois and Iowa, the group performs both classical and contemporary dance at various venues. Ballet Quad Cities was once known as "Cassandra Manning Ballet Theatre," directed by Susan Snider. Snider began her artistic career in the Quad Cities before relocating to Des Moines, Iowa, with her family. The company only had one paid dancer at the time of its inception. The number of dancers in the company had grown to twelve by 2010.
The Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theatre in New York City hosted the company's inaugural performance in April 2010. Deanna Carter, the ballet's choreographer, was one of five choreographers that presented their work at the annual Ballet Builders. Ballet Quad Cities and Orchestra Iowa began working together in the 2012-2013 season.
The Paramount Theatre in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where Orchestra Iowa is situated, and the Adler Theatre in Davenport, Iowa, will host two performances featuring the two artistic groups. One of the ballet's most important venues is the Adler. BQC will have one male and five female dancers in 2021.
