Angelo Tsarouchas is a Canadian writer, actor, and comedian. Angelo Tsarouchas's parents were Greek emigrants who settled in Montreal. His mother was from Mytilene, while Tsarouchas' parents were from Sparta. Because his mother had such a hard time picking up English, Tsarouchas picked up the Greek language at a young age. Tsarouchas used to do stand-up comedy in high school.
Tsarouchas' first wife did not support his comedic aspirations, so he put those plans on hold when he married. He launched multiple enterprises, including a food service establishment, a tour company, and a bowling alley. Tsarouchas was left with barely $900 after the collapse of his business and the dissolution of his first marriage. He got in his car and drove from Ottawa to Toronto, where he set out to launch a stand-up comedy career.
He started as a comic at local establishments like Yuk Yuk's. In the early 2000s, when Tsarouchas toured North America, he received critical acclaim for his stand-up comedy. Tsarouchas has appeared on several comedy tours and festivals, such as the Russell Peters World Tour, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and the Just for Laughs Festival.
