Andy Borowitz (January 4, 1958) is an American comedian, writer, actor, and satirist. He is from Shaker Heights, Ohio. Borowitz is well-known for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, an NBC sitcom, along with The Borowitz Report, a satirical column. For his outstanding work, Borowitz is awarded the National Press Club award for humor being the best-selling author of the New York Times.
Borowitz graduated from Harvard College, 1980. He lived in the Adams house. Borowitz wrote several pieces for the Hasty Pudding Theatricals. He was also the president of the Harvard Lampoon and wrote on Restoration comedy as his undergraduate thesis.
Andy Borowitz began his career by writing for Bud Yorkin at Tandem Productions. He also wrote the TV series entitled “Square Pegs” in 1982-83 and “The Facts of Life.” Borowitz also created The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and was also the launcher of the acting career of Will Smith. For this series, he earned an NAACP Image Award.
Borowitz served as a commentator for Weekend Edition Sunday and Wait Wait… Don't Tell Me! On the Public National Radio. He also started blogging for Huffington Post. The Daily Beast called him; America's Satire King. He has also made an appearance in several TV programs, including Best Week Ever, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, Live at Gotham, VH1, Need to Know, and many more.
Starting from 2004, Borowitz continuously performed at The Comedy Festival, as a stand-up comedian at Aspen (Colorado). Some other comedy events accompanied by his performances are the New York Comedy Festival, University of California, Santa Barbara performance, Central Park Summerstage performance, and a few more. He started serving humor for The New Yorker Magazine in 1998 and also joined The New Yorker College Tour.
