Aladdin Jr. is a musical adaptation from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film Aladdin, 1992. The film is an adaptation of the popular folk tale, Aladdin. The music is by Alan Menken, and the lyrics are by Howard Ashman, Tim Rice, and Chad Beguelin. The production is between 60 and 80 minutes.
Aladdin Jr. is part of the Broadway Jr. series that Music Theatre International (MTI) runs, which adapts full-length musicals into approximately hour-long productions. The songs from the Disney film that are included in the musical are "One Jump Ahead," "Friend Like Me," "Prince Ali," "Arabian Nights," and "A Whole New World." Another song was included in 2018 named "Why Me."
There are some additional changes in the Aladdin Jr., such as three princes come to try for Jasmine's hand in marriage. MTI revised Aladdin Jr. to replicate the 2014 Broadway musical in 2018.
