A Tuna Christmas Information

A Tuna Christmas is the additional installment in a sequence of comedic productions, which are all situated in the fictitious "third-smallest" community in Texas, Tuna (as in the plays Red, White and Tuna, Tuna Does Vegas, and Greater Tuna).

Ed Howard, Joe Sears, and Jaston Williams penned the trilogy. The plays are a loving commentary and a biting parody of small-town, Southern attitudes and lifestyles. The plays stand out because they include over 20 quirky characters spanning generations and genders, all played by two guys.

After the 1981 Austin premiere of Greater Tuna and the 1989 launch of A Tuna Christmas, the touring company disbanded in 2012 following Sears' retirement.

With Howard at the helm, Williams and Sears often performed all four plays on tour. While visiting the White House with President George H. W. Bush and Barbara Bush, Sears and Williams gave command performances of A Tuna Christmas and Greater Tuna.

A Tuna Christmas has been recorded and is available on videocassette and DVD. Regular performances of the play continue around the nation, consistently receiving favorable reviews.
