The Visalia Rawhide is an American Minor League Baseball team. The team plays in the Low-A West and the Low-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. They are currently located in Visalia, California. The Rawhide was founded in 1946 in their existing location. The team plays its home games at Valley Strong Ballpark. The team is owned and operated by First Pitch Entertainment, LLC. The Rawhide is known for wearing old-fashioned uniforms once in a season to recall Mighty Casey, the main folklore hero of “Casey at the Bat” and the “Mudville Nine.”
The Rawhide has changed its name many times over a period, such as Visalie Stars (1953), Vasalie Cubs (1954-1954, 1946-1952), Visalia Redlegs (1957-1959), Visalia Athletics (1960-1961), Visalia White Sox (1962), Visalia Mets (1968-1975), Central Valley Rockies (1993-1994), Visalia Oaks (1995-2008, 1977-1992), and Visalia Rawhide (2009-present). The team has only a mascot at the moment whose name is Tipper.
The Rawhide won the only first-half title in 2016, three division titles in 2015, 2018, and 2019, and three league titles in 1971, 1978, and 2019. The current general managers of the Rawhide are Julian Rifkind and Mike Candela whereas Javier Colina is the current manager.
