Tulsa Oilers Information
The Tulsa Oilers are an ECHL professional ice hockey club from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Before relocating to the brand new BOK Center in 2008, the Oilers had their home games in the Tulsa Convention Center.
Even before the Tulsa Drillers became a part of the city's minor league baseball history, a club known as the Tulsa Oilers existed. The "Ice Oilers" moniker was used frequently by the hockey team to avoid any ambiguity in local press coverage.
As one of just two teams—the other being the Wichita Thunder—to have played in all 22 seasons of the Central Hockey League, the Oilers were a league member in the past.
In their first 13 seasons as a franchise, the Oilers went 9–1, beginning a winning tradition. However, recent years have been less successful, and they have made the playoffs four times since 2005.
With the help of original owner Jeff Lund, veteran minor league coach and ex-NHL ironman Garry Unger put together the 1992–93 squad. The squad, led by high-scoring forward Sylvain Naud and experienced goaltender Tony Martino, finished second in the regular season behind the intrastate rival Oklahoma City Blazers.
