Providence Bruins Information
One of the National Hockey League's (NHL) affiliates, the Providence Bruins, play professional ice hockey in the American Hockey League (AHL). Providence, Rhode Island's Amica Mutual Pavilion, is where they perform. After a contract was made between the owners of the Maine Mariners franchise, Frank DuRoss and Ed Anderson, and Providence mayor Buddy Cianci, the club was relocated. The 1992–93 AHL season saw the Providence Bruins begin operations.
Ben Schwartz, who was thirteen years old when the season began in 2001–02, was hired by the Providence Bruins to play the organ during home games. Consequently, Schwartz is the youngest organist in professional North American sports history to have ever worked for a team. She did this for seven years until the 2007–08 season ended.
The Bruins relocated to the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, Massachusetts, after the pandemic shortened the 2019–20 season. Rhode Island was using the Dunkin' Donuts Center for pandemic-related operations, so the Bruins had to find a temporary home. H. Larue Renfroe is co-owner of the team and the New England Sports Center. In 2021–22, the Bruins again played their American Hockey League season in the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The Amica Mutual Pavilion became the new name of the home venue in September 2022.
