The Penn State Nittany Lions are a collegiate basketball team representing Penn State in NCAA Division I. Previously held at Rec Hall, the team relocated to the 15,261-seat Bryce Jordan Center for the 1995–96 season.
There have been ten appearances by the Nittany Lions in the NCAA tournament. The sum of their records was 10-11. The Nittany Lions have made one appearance at the CBI regarding college basketball. The record for them was 1-0. They won the NIT in 2009 and again in 2018.
There have been ten times that the program has participated in the NCAA tournament, with the best finish being in 1954 when it made it to the Final Four. In 2023, the squad last competed and advanced past the first round, defeating Texas A&M.
Additionally, the program has participated in the National Invitation Tournament eleven times, with the most recent appearance occurring in 2018, when they triumphed against Utah to attain the title of National Invitation Tournament winner. Not only did they win the 2009 NIT title, but their overall record is 27-9.
