Ohio Bobcats Football Information
The Ohio University football program is one of the country's most prominent university varsity athletics teams. The team competes in the NCAA's highest division of football, Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, and represents the university as a senior Mid-American Conference (MAC) member. The Bobcats' home games are held at Athens's Peden Stadium. After the 2019 season, Ohio won the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, the 2018 Frisco Bowl, and the 2019 Bahamas Bowl.
During Solich's tenure, 2009 through 2020, Ohio qualified for the bowl game in twelve consecutive seasons. After Solich retired on July 14, 2021, the longtime offensive coordinator for the Bobcats, Tim Albin, was promoted to head coach. The Bobcats were 3-5 in the MAC in his first year, leading them to a third-place finish in the East Division. They were 0-4 in non-conference games, including a loss to FCS Duquesne. The last time there was a losing season like this for Ohio was 2008.
In 2022, things went in the opposite direction of 2021. With a 9-3 overall record and 7-1 mark in the MAC, they concluded the regular season on a seven-game winning run. It was their first MAC East title since 2016. but came up short in the MAC Championship Game against Toledo. Ohio won the Arizona Bowl, besting Wyoming.
