Northeastern Huskies Mens Hockey Information
The Northeastern Huskies men's ice hockey team is an NCAA Division I college hockey program that competes for Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Previously members of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), in which they won one tournament championship, the team has participated in Hockey East since 1984 and has won three tournament titles.
The world's oldest hockey arena is still in use, and the 4,666-seat Matthews Arena hosts Huskies home games. The Huskies were the runner-up twice (1983 and 1987) and won the esteemed Beanpot tournament four times (1980, 1984, 1985, 1988), so they experienced their most success in the 1980s. Following additional victories in 2019, 2020, 2023, and 2024 for nine championships, the Huskies broke a thirty-year Beanpot drought in 2018.
Longtime coach Jim Madigan moved to athletic director, thus Jerry Keefe took over as head coach in 2021. Among team history, Racine, Keni Gibson, and Cayden Primeau are the most outstanding goaltenders; they have the most school career records. The single-season record for shutouts held by Brad Thiessen was broken by Devon Levi in 2022 when he recorded ten shutouts in his first full year starting in goal.
