Minnesota Roller Derby Information
Since 2005, MNRG games and practices have been held at Saint Paul's Roy Wilkins Auditorium, which seats up to 4,000 for roller derby and often sees between 1,800 and 3,000 attendance. When it comes to having a dedicated, professional facility for training and competition, MNRG claims to be the first in the country.
Volunteer skaters in Minnesota Roller Derby must be 18 or older, and the league is run entirely by unpaid volunteers. No one in the Minnesota Roller Derby, from skaters to volunteers, makes any money from the league or its success. The league uses its money to cover expenses such as renting a place to practice, paying for publicity and representation, and funding away games against other WFTDA members in other regions. The remaining funds are distributed to other community organizations, with special attention paid to those serving women.
Minnesota launched the DebuTaunts training and recreation program in 2011 to attract more skaters to the league. By 2015, nearly all incoming league skaters had already participated in the league's recreational and instructional program at least once.
