Minnesota Roller Derby
Roy Wilkins is a multi-purpose auditorium located at 175 W. Kellogg Blvd, St. Paul, Minnesota. It was inaugurated in the year 1932, with the name of St. Paul Auditorium. The venue was renamed later after the renowned activist Roy Wilkins, the holder of Freedom Medal and the nation’s highest civilian honor. The arena is owned and operated by Minnesota Sports & Entertainment. It has a seating capacity of 5,000. The architecture of the auditorium was designed by Clarence W. Wigington and was later renovated in the year 1986. It serves as a home field to the Minnesota Roller Derby (ABA) currently since the year 2005. The auditorium hosts concerts, speaking, and sports events for the state.
The Minnesota State Boys’ High School Hockey Tournament was held from 1945 till 1968 at the auditorium. The St. Paul Slam of the International Basketball Association played a couple of seasons at the arena in the years 1996-97 and 1997-98. The Minnesota Ripknees played at the auditorium for the 2007-8 game as well. In the year 2000, Roy Wilkins Auditorium hosted Extreme Championship Wrestling’s pay-per-view Anarchy Rulz. The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association held its championship event at the auditorium on November 6-8, 2015. The venue has served home to many of the teams from time to time until they found their permanent home fields. The Grateful Dead, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, and Bob Dylan are some recognizable artists who played their music at the Roy Wilkins auditorium and graced the walls of the hall.
Tickets for the events to be held at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium are available at the Box Office from Monday through Saturday 10: 00 A.M to 6:00 P.M during NHL season, and Monday through Friday at the same timings during the summer season.
