Miami University takes part in NCAA Division I competition on ice using a men's hockey team known as the Miami RedHawks. The team is from the very competitive Oxford, Ohio, and competes in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). The RedHawks have developed a well-respected program, one that has a history of success, and done it known for their strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
The team has worked under the leadership of head coach Chris Bergeron, who took over in 2019 to return to national prominence. After all, Bergeron was a former Miami player and knows the program's culture well, and he wants to bring a winning mentality. With a home game played at the Goggin Ice Center, the RedHawks have a large fan base and an electric atmosphere and support.
The team has appeared in several NCAA tournaments and made it to a Frozen Four in 2009. There's an esprit de corps among those fresh faces—no matter how new they are to the NCHC—who are fighting to finalize their roles on the NCAA national stage ahead of this 2023-2024 season.
