Kitchener Rangers Information
Kitchener, Ontario, Canada is home to the Kitchener Rangers, a top junior ice hockey club. They play in the Western Conference's Midwest Division as a team in the Ontario Hockey League. As winners of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in 1981, 1982, 2003, and 2008, the Rangers have won the J. Ross Robertson Cup. They made it to the championship game in each of their six appearances in the Memorial Cup (1981, 1982, 1984, 1990, 2003, and 2008). In 1982 and 2003, they won the Memorial Cup.
Along with the Moose Jaw Warriors, Swift Current Broncos, Lethbridge Hurricanes, and Peterborough Petes, the Rangers are among the six Canadian Hockey League teams that are owned by the public. The team's 39-person Board of Directors, with a nine-person executive committee, has been elected by the team's season ticket holders, who have served as trustees from the club's establishment. Similarly, the Kitchener Rangers season ticket holders make up the whole Board of Directors.
With almost 180 players and coaches who went on to serve in the NHL, including Jeff Skinner, Radek Faksa, Gabriel Landeskog, Steve Mason, Derek Roy,John Gibson, Nazem Kadri, Mike Richards, David Clarkson, and Peter DeBoer, they are one of the most successful Canadian Hockey League clubs in terms of alumni. Their five alums—Scott Stevens, Bill Barber, Paul Coffey, Larry Robinson, and Al MacInnis—have all been elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame.
