International Finals Rodeo Information
The International Finals Rodeo, or IFR, was first staged in 1971 at the Tulsa Assembly Center as the season's finale for the 1970 International Pro Rodeo Association, or IPRA. The Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico, replaced Tulsa as the site of the yearly event.
After a brief hiatus in 1975, the rodeo returned to Tulsa in 1990 for its 20th anniversary. Since then, the event has changed locations several times; now, it is in the Laze E arena in Oklahoma. At the IFR in January, the IPRA crowns the annual rodeo champions.
Get ready for an adrenaline-pumping experience as contract performers put their abilities to the test, and a myriad of rodeo action unfolds. The Contract Skills Showcase, where stock performers showcase their skills, is a must-see for stock contractors. And of course, the most popular events, such as steer wrestling and team roping, feature the top competitors at the IFR, adding to the thrill of the event.
The Annual Bucking Stock Sale, a Western trade exhibition and rodeo, features the presentation, auction, and sale of bucking stock. Additionally, the annual IPRA convention is held during this time. The Miss Rodeo pageant also happens during the event, which happens every year.
