Harvard Crimson Mens Hockey Information
The NCAA Division I college ice hockey team representing Harvard University is called the "Harvard Crimson." The Crimson plays ice hockey in the ECAC. Boston, Massachusetts' Bright Hockey Center is where they compete. One of the US's earliest college ice hockey teams, the Crimson hockey team, played its first game on January 19, 1898, losing to Brown 0-6.
One of the earliest college ice hockey teams in the United States, the Crimson hockey team was established in 1898. On January 19, 1898, at Franklin Field in Boston, the group competed in their first official intercollegiate game against Brown while playing on a nearby pond. The series is the longest-running college hockey rivalry in the nation. The Crimson lost that match 0-6; yet, the Brown-Harvard rivalry persisted and eventually became the oldest in collegiate hockey in the US.
Alfred Winsor was hired as the team's first-ever official head coach in 1903. Previously, the club employed captains in a player-coach capacity, such as Winsor, who led the Crimson from 1901 to 1902. From January 10, 1903, to January 19, 1907, the squad was on a 22-game winning streak under Winsor. This stretch lasted for five and a half seasons.
