Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, competes in men's basketball at the NCAA under the name and moniker of the Furman Paladins in the Southern Conference (SoCon). Over the years, the Paladins have made a name for themselves for playing smart and chemical basketball.

Under head coach Bob Richey, Furman put together a 28–8 overall record and 15–3 (regular season) in SoCon play, winning the regular season title. That set them up to clinch their first NCAA Tournament berth since 1980, and they made headlines by shocking Virginia in the first round before losing to San Diego State in the second round.

Last season was tough, finishing 17–16 overall and 10–8 in conference play. The Paladins continued to show up even through the tough road they faced. In the 2024–25 season, Furman has begun it with 7–0. Moving forward, the team is looking to grow off its recent successes to have sustained excellence in the SoCon, and beyond.
