Colorado Eagles Information
The Colorado Eagles hail from Loveland, Colorado, and they play minor-league ice hockey at a professional level. The Eagles are an ice hockey team that competes in the American Hockey League's Pacific Division.
The Eagles were originally formed in 2003 as an expansion team in the Central Hockey League. They stayed in that league until June 2011, when they became a part of the ECHL. Along with two Ray Miron President's Cups, three regular-season crowns, five conference titles, and six division titles, the Eagles enjoyed a fruitful eight-season run in the Canadian Hockey League.
This past season, the Vegas Golden Knights became the 31st franchise to join the National Hockey League. There were talks of adding a 31st American Hockey League franchise with the approval of a new NHL team.
Talks with other groups were initiated when the Golden Knights decided to associate with the Chicago Wolves rather than create their own AHL expansion franchise.
With Aaron Schneekloth still on staff, the Avalanche brought in Greg Cronin to lead the AHL for the Eagles. With Cronin at the helm for the first five years, the Eagles were playoff contenders yearly.
