The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College football team is known as the Chattanooga Mocs. The team represents the Southern Conference in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The school fielded its first football squad in 1904. The 20,668-seat Finley Stadium is where the team plays its home games. Rusty Wright, a UTC alum, is their coach. Under Russ Huesman, he served as a coach's assistant. From 1992 until 1995, Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens played with the Mocs.
From 1997 to 2009, Finley Stadium in Chattanooga hosted 14 Division I-AA (now FCS) Football Championship games. The Mocs have won 15 conference championships, including eight outright and seven shared, including five in the SIAA, three in the Dixie Conference, and seven in the Southern Conference. Derrick Lott, Travis McNeal, Terrell Owens, Chris Sanders, Terdell Sands, Buster Skrine, Paul Squibb, Cole Strange, Davis Tull, Keionta Davis, Kareem Orr, and many others are among the team's noteworthy former players.
