Chad Berger Bucking Bulls of Mandan, North Dakota, was founded in 2003, but it dates back to the early 1960s. Chad's father, Joe, a famous bull breeder and the stock contractor, began purchasing bulls for Chad and his brother Fred to ride. Joe had enough livestock by the 1970s to start serving smaller events, and the business grew from there. Chad loved working with his father and was fascinated by the bucking bull industry. The family produced several outstanding bucking bulls, notably "Little Yellow Jacket," widely regarded as one of the greatest bulls ever.
Chad Berger Bucking Bulls was founded in 2003 by Chad Berger with the help of his entire family. Chad had put together a herd of bulls deserving of third place in the PBR's stock contractor of the year ratings by 2006. Chad Berger Bucking Bulls won the coveted Stock Contractor of the Year award in 2007. Chad and his partner Clay Struve won the prize for the second year in a row in 2008.
Chad may have taken home the gold buckle, but he was sure to stress that it was a team effort. In 2009, he was named Stock Contractor of the Year for the second time. He received the distinguished distinction of Stock Contractor of the Year for three years. From 2014 through 2021, he won eight more PBR Stock Contractor of the Year honors.
