Canby Rodeo Information
A last-ditch effort to revitalize Oregon's faltering Clackamas County Fair, the Canby Rodeo, began in 1958. They aimed to increase attendance, so they hired Craig Landeen to organize a rodeo. To this day, the Canby Rodeo remains one of the Northwest's most exciting rodeos to attend, even though it is now more than half a century old. Their novel timetable allows participants in timed events to complete both "go-rounds" on the same day, a feature known as same-day slack and same-day performance. A rodeo consists of the following seven events. Barrel racing and riding bulls go hand in hand with the rodeo. Exhibits of balance and timing, such as bareback and saddle bronc riding, are incredible to watch. Athletes of all stripes can show off their team roping, tie-down roping, and steer wrestling skills. Watching one heart-pounding event after another will fill you with the excitement of the West and set your spirit on fire. Remember to give them a wave as the rodeo's beautiful royalty rides by.
