Boston University Terriers Mens Hockey Information
Boston University is represented in collegiate ice hockey by the Boston University Terriers men's team. They made their debut in 1918 and have since gone on to win five national titles and 22 Frozen Four appearances.
Out of the four main collegiate hockey teams in Boston, BU has triumphed in the historic Beanpot tournament 31 times and won 12 major conference tournaments. From 1961 to 1984, BU was a member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), winning five tournament championships. Later, they moved on to the Hockey East Association, winning seven more.
The Terriers are unique among eastern teams in winning consecutive NCAA championships and having five national titles. Head coach Jack Kelley led them to their first championship in 1971 and their second in 1972. During head coach Jack Parker's tenure, BU won the other three championships in 1978, 1995, and 2009.
Since the 1984–85 season, Boston University has been a member of the Hockey East conference, where they have won 8 tournament championships and nine ten-season crowns. Since the 1952–1953 season, 62 Beanpots have been contested, with 31 victories for Boston University.
The Terriers last tasted victory in 2022, when they advanced to the championship game after a 1-0 victory against Northeastern University.
