AFC Bournemouth is a professional association football club in Kings Park, Boscombe, an area of Bournemouth, Dorset, England. The Premier League is the pinnacle of English club football, and this club is a member of it. The club changed its name in 1971 from Boscombe, which it had used since its formation in 1899. Since 1910, Bournemouth—also known as "The Cherries"—has called Dean Court their home stadium.
After just four league games on August 30, 2022, the club's return to the Premier League was marred by a rocky start as a relationship breakdown between Parker and the club, coupled with a Premier League record-equalling 9-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield, led to Parker's resignation. Before his official appointment as head coach on November 27, 2022, first-team coach Gary O'Neil served as interim head coach for 12 games, during which time the club's play improved.
Black Knight Football Club, a partnership spearheaded by American billionaire Bill Foley and Cannae Holdings, acquired the club from its former owner, Maxim Demin, on December 13, 2022. Nullah Sarker, founder of Kosmos, and Michael B. Jordan, an actor from Hollywood, head the minority ownership group. The club named Gary O'Neil as manager on June 19, 2023, and Andoni Iraola was named his replacement.
