ZHU Information
Steven Zhu (April 28, 1989) is an American singer, songwriter, DJ, and music producer from San Francisco, California. His music is defined as house, electronic, and deep house. ZHU has been playing music since 2014. He is of Chinese heritage and used to play orchestral practices and bands during school. In February 2014, his first track, "Moves Like Ms. Jackson," came out to the public. It was a mashup of many songs by Outkast. It was followed by an EP titled The Nightday.
Pete Tong praised the debut track from The Nightday, "Faded," calling it an "Essential New Tune" on his BBC Radio 1 radio show. When "Faded" was published in March 2014, it shot to the top of the charts around the world. It peaked at No.3 in Australia and the UK and 12 on the US Dance/Electronic chart. The song "In the Morning" was released in 2016. Following his Neon City Tour, he declared that "In the Morning" would be the album's lead single. He also announced that his debut album, Generationwhy, will be released on July 29, 2016.
Zhu continued to enjoy success in 2017, appearing on the live stage of the Ultra Music Festival, which took place in Miami on March 24.
The year 2019 saw the release of "Came for the Low" by Zhu, whose music video included Andrew Yang, a contender for president of the United States in 2020. As the lead single off his third studio album, Dreamland 2021, he and Tinashe jointly released the song "Only" on May 14, 2020. He recently released a song called "Revelations" alongside Devault and BabyJake.
