Young People’s Chorus of New York City is a children’s chorus based in New York City. This internationally acclaimed chorus is famous for providing children with choral performances and a unique music education program. The Young People’s Chorus maintains a model of artistic excellence and humanity that serves as an enriching element for the community.
The Young People’s Chorus was founded in 1988 by MacArthur Fellow Francisco Nunez. The chorus has delivered some outstanding performances in venues scattered all around the globe. Some of the top venues were in Argentina, Spain, the Czech Republic, Austria, Sweden, Japan, Dominican Republic, Wales, Germany, Bulgaria, Brazil, China, Canada, and France.
The Young People’s Chorus has performed on Good Morning America, has been seen at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the United Nations, the White House, and a few more. YPC earned several notable awards for its outstanding performances and educational activities. The most popular ones are two Chorus America/ASCAP Awards (Adventurous Programming) and Chorus America’s Education Outreach Award.
YPC has been recognized for its amazing work with urban at-risk youth. The ensemble has been appreciated by the Mayor of the City of New York, the Manhattan Borough, the New York State Assembly, and the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities.
