Born in 1989, Yemi Alade is an Afropop singer and songwriter from Nigeria. She stepped into the spotlight of the Nigerian music industry far back in the year 2009 by winning the Peak Talent Show. She is best known for "Johnny," one of her hit singles. Yemi is the fifth of her parent's seven children, all of whom were raised in Abia State, Nigeria. She is a versatile artist and studied Geography at the University of Lagos, where she got her first degree before venturing into a music career.
Yemi is an artist of two music firms, namely the Effizzie Music Group (her main record label) and Universal Music Group. Even before Effizzie Music released her debut studio album by the name 'King of Queens' in 2014, Yemi collaborated with several famous producers such as Selebobo, GospelOnDeBeatz, Sizzle Pro, Beat Nation, Fliptyce, and a few others. Her second studio album entitled 'Mama Africa' was released in March 2016 featuring guest appearances of stars like P-Square, Sarkodie, Sauti Sol, Flavour Nabania, DJ Arafat, and Rotimi Keys.
Yemi has also released several other albums as well as hit singles such as 'Na Gode, ' which is available for download on platforms like iTunes. In the course of her shining music career, Yemi has toured several African countries, which include Ghana and Kenya, to promote her music launches. She is also an accomplished recipient of several significant awards, including the Best Performer 2019 category in the Headies Awards and the Best Female 2015 & 2016 category in the MTV Africa music awards. She has also been nominated several times for awards by her colleagues and team fans.
